What is an agentic workforce?
An agentic workforce is a team of AI agents in which every agent has a defined role, the tools for that role, and a deliverable a human team reviews. NextEraLabs provides 18 such roles for data, ML and AI platforms, organised in four layers: Platform, Data, ML and AI.
What do the agents actually do?
They build, run, develop and continuously improve data, ML and AI platforms end to end. Each role hands back finished work: the Migration Agent returns converted models with a row-level reconciliation report, the Pipeline Agent returns dbt models and orchestration DAGs as pull requests, and the Quality Agent returns test suites and data quality findings.
Where do the agents run?
Inside your own cloud tenant. Your tenant, your data and your access model stay in place; the agents are given a role, tools and guardrails within that environment.
Do the agents change production on their own?
No. Agents propose changes through pull requests and tickets, and people merge them. Every action, query and decision is logged, and changes are reversible.
Which cloud platforms are supported?
All three hyperscale clouds: AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, in single-cloud, multi-cloud or hybrid setups. The workforce also works on the open-source stack, on any cloud or on-prem: dbt, Trino, Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Superset, Prefect, Apache NiFi, Keycloak and MLflow.
How are the 18 roles organised?
Two ways. By layer: Platform (5 roles), Data (7), ML (3) and AI (3). By lifecycle crew: Build, Develop, Run and Improve, after which the cycle starts again. The workforce reference lists every role.
Do the agents work with each other and with business teams?
Yes. Work is handed from agent to agent; for example the Pipeline Agent works with the Migration, Quality, Analytics and Feature agents. Some roles also work directly with business lines: Finance, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Risk & Compliance, Product and IT.
